DO YOU REALLY NEED HELP?

Image
Hey, how have you been? It’s been a minute... I hope you didn’t give up on our blog ‘cause I’m back with all the great stuff for you. So, about a month ago, I was having a conversation with someone and the person mentioned how that people (Church people especially) only think to walk up to you and condemn you or put up a holier than thou appearance when they hear some shitty stuff about you, whereas they never thought to ask how things were going with you prior to when things blew up. Well, I already knew where they were coming from so I just had to wait for them to land before I condemn the person properly (as a Church people that I am) Truth is, every now and then when our actions finally explode in our faces, we are very quick to want to share the guilt with everyone around us by accusing them of not saying or doing something when it wasn’t as bad. So we begin asking funny questions like; what do you care? Where were you when A and B was happening? Back to my story; so when ...

SHOOT YOUR SHOT

Image
"Shoot your shot! Shoot your shot! If you like her; tell her." Please, stop listening to motivational speakers. Okay o, that was how innocent me; filled with motivational talks, carried myself and went to ask this fine girl out (me and fine girls shaa) . We’ve been around each other for only so long and I decided to follow ‘professional advice.’ After the customary akara and sugarcane talks with plenty laughter, I finally grabbed the mic and presented my manifesto... (I saw you in my dream dressed in all white with a scroll in your hand and you gave it me and said this is the vision I’m here to support you... Khuuuuur! Let me throw up... No! I didn’t say that balablu...) but that was where I spoilt the fun. Immediately my words left the two sides of my wide mouth, I knew I had hit a rock bottom; the atmosphere instantly became eerie. It felt like they just poured cold water on me and the food I was eating lost every bit of tastiness in it. To make matters worse, Aun...

WHEN BAD THINGS HAPPEN

Image
As a Christian or rather as the Beloved of God, what first comes to mind when bad things happen to you? Are you like me who will always think its God’s judgement or you are like that friend of mine who believes every bad thing comes from the devil? You remember I mentioned in my previous post that my laptop charger blew over the weekend right? Now here is the full gist. I woke up already feeling lazy to go to Church that Sunday morning; practically all my clothes were dirty (No, let’s get it straight, I’m not a dirty kid... I've just been busy☺) I kept fighting my conscience to stop screaming inside of me, but eventually, I lost the battle especially when I remembered that the brother who took the opening prayer last Sunday asked us to pray against the hold of the devil on people’s lives emphasizing that it is not normal for someone to wake up and not go to church.... I was like hell no! The devil’s got no hold on my life so I’m going all the way to church even in my dirty cl...

FLIP THE LIGHTS ON!

Image
Yippee! It’s good to be back... It really feels like home here; thanks to you. Trust you don’t want to know how rough my weekend was... From weekend exams, to epileptic power supply (and you know how these things are in Nigeria, nobody thinks they owe you an explanation for what happened) then Uncle Sapa did me really bad, and just when I thought I was done for, my   two weeks old laptop charger blew up on an otherwise glorious Sunday morning... Gosh! My weekend was really one hell. But Yes, I survived and I want to share with you something spectacular I learnt amidst all these chaos. So one of those nights, while I was working late into the morning around 4am precisely, the power went out and I had to return to sleep. Lying there in the dark, I heard one of the guys in the room crawl out of bed (we were three in that room...yes, it’s quite large). It was obvious he wanted to step out and use the rest room. The whole place was entirely dark. I could hear his cal...

NEVER MAKE A GOOD FIRST IMPRESSION

Image
I know you’ve read from the good books and heard from great people that first impression matters and that; one should always create a good and striking impression when meeting new people. Unfortunately, this has led people even corporate outfits to put on some funny appearances like forced smiles, unusual hospitality, borrowed looks, exaggerated remarks etcetera, just to win people over. Well, before I disagree, let me first agree; yes, a first impression matters a lot. But... You don’t have to create a good one at all cost. From personal experiences (and you don’t have to take me seriously) my longest and closest associations don't always start off on a good note... for instance, back then in secondary school I so much detested this clique of Bayelsa girls that anytime our paths crossed, I made it so obvious that I hated them. Eventually one of them became my very best friend and by the time I was leaving the school, every other person thought we were dating... t...

YOU CAN'T MAKE MONEY ONLINE

Image
I visited a friend of mine two days ago and while we got talking, I made a comment on how it was taking forever to get my Geegpay account verified. My friend wanted to know what Geegpay was all about, so I mentioned to him that it is an online payment platform that allows you to receive international payments, especially as a freelancer. Somehow, he asked if I was going to be receiving dollars through the account and I replied in the affirmative. Instantly, he made this request that got me really troubled:  "Abeg, teach me how to make money online nau, e be like say I no serious with my life..."  I was about to pass that remark off as a joke when I noticed the flush of depression on his face, so I had to pause for a moment and cut him some slack (well, I didn’t use a blunt knife). It wasn’t the request that got me thinking, but the comment he made at the end of the request. So I went ahead to tell him this very thing I’m about to share with you.   First, I'd like to know:...
